"Colour study. Quick direct pen drawing but then the colours were a bit of a mind fuck so took longer than I wanted but was worth it. Don't take the easy route. 3-4hrs"

thank you and not for these, these are done without quality in mind and not applying too much effort so i could never bring myself to sell them,Β

coupled that i dont feel confident about myΒ ability to even try and what you have here is a "starving artist" lol

got a mega long way to go

sometime quick free work has best expression, this has nice composition and color, unrefined detail conveys the feel of moving in a crowd of people

if you were to upload a high resolution copy and make prints available I would order a print during DA next sale

thanks bro, I'm still experimenting at the moment. trying to let teh watercolours talk for themselves without Β too solid a line drawing

but it's not seeming possible for the speed i'd like to complete the sketches in.

they can come out incoherent like anything with rocks/mountains, or missing details i'd most definitely have in with oils or digital.Β

will put the rest up on friday.Β

thanks for the support

For sure. And don't worry about speed. I'm super slow, what matters is the end results!

there was a time when I believed that all that matters is the result.

what really matters for me amongst other things is speed and workflow. Truth is, given a certain amount of time, anyone can create a awesome piece only after a short period of practice and learning technique, working to their full capacity.Β

I see it a lot on instagram. some newcomers start with a low skill level then after a few months they are producing highly photo realistic portraits.Β

they put in god knows how many hours to get it done.Β

It was how I started off myself. But not achieving what i was after made me force how I learn onto it's head.Β

nowadays everything i do is a noodle.Β

i think one thing i've learnt over the years, is that there is no infallible blue print to becoming a successful artist. there are commonalities in what people do but how they get to where they are is all different.Β

there was a excerpt from a book that embodies what i feel about how i learn/speed. unfortunately I can't copy and paste it, and would have to type it lol and unless you realllllly want to know it, it's a mission I'll pass up haha.Β

sorry for typing your eyes out bro, i like enticing artistic thought

Yeah speed is definitely important for sure. I think a lot of it depends on what you're doing and what your deadlines are. As for me, I'm still in the early stages of art so I can't worry about speed just yet. Once I'm able to achieve pictures of an acceptable quality, I can worry about producing those more quickly. And I'm always down for a good art theory talk!

Hmm I reckon you're more than ahead of the early stages bro, I agree with what you say here also. Everyone has their own way to develop to reach what they want! you're definitely better than me at finishing both work and studies to a realism level! Which speaks about your eye for accuracy. I'll prod you more for talks in future.

Nah! Man, I bet if you stuck with a picture long enough you could render the hell out of it!
