is there any process for designing characters? I feel that sometimes my designs can be rushed and overall lazy

i try to think about the theme i want as i design charactres (more so now compared to the past whne i wasnt as good lol..) and the kind fo vibe each part of them gives off. eg im making an escape artis charcter right now, and he has a kind of wild personality. so bright, wild hair, piercings compared to the straitjacket he has to try and escape! its the bright colors of his eyes and hair im going to do contrasted to the white and black/dark brown of the straitjacket.

so.. just think about what each aspect says about your character. you should be able to feel their personality without having it described to you in words!
