Some of them are a bit silly too. Here you can see Dilbert teaching an ostrich to fly

Interesting that you'd post this, I just discovered all the episodes of an old TV show on Youtube called Twelve O'Clock High.

The drama and adventures of the 918th Bomb Group, flying B-17 bombers over Europe during WW-II.

Terrible theme song, but otherwise a good show from the groovy 1960s.

Took a peek at it. Had the first episode running on my other screen. It was about the crew of the "Leper Colony". Their plane didn't have the nose gun. Seems to have been different versions of it.
I have a feeling that hitting enemy fighters from a B-17 wasn't quite so easy as they made it look.

Off the top of my head, I want to say the B-17G series had such a nose gun.

That said, I believe every version of the plane had some sort of .50 cal mounted in the nose for the bombadier to use.

Twelve O'Clock High was a movie starring Gregory Peck, that inspired the TV series.

Both dealt with the "Leper Colony", the plane to which screwups were assigned.

Personally, in Gallagher's place I would've endured General Stone's rant, then told him how I'd enjoy proving him wrong.

Yeah, I think I saw 2 single barrel guns sticking out of each side of the front glass.

Ah, I see. Not sure if I've seen that one. In the trailer at IMDB Gregory Peck says it was his most satisfying role.

I prefer old movies over what's available these days.

I like a lot of old movies too, but some of them are too corny, simplistic and haven't aged well.

They have made a lot of great modern movies, but many of the American "action and effect spectacles" aimed at teen audiences are rubbish.
As a scifi fan, I think it's sad that many scifi movies are spoiled by poor writing, plots, science and logic.

Some, but not all.

As a fan of sci-fi and Shakespeare, I believe you can't go wrong with Forbidden Planet.

Ah, the Swordfish is an interesting aircraft. The biplane seems a bit old fashioned and slow to have been introduced in 1936. 2391 built according to Wiki.

Do a Google search with B-17. Plenty of images where some have the nose gun and others don't.
Thank you
