Description A juvinile peregrine falcon (probably female because the size) but i kinda gave it a look of an american kestrel because of the orange and light colour wings. A world wide distributed bird of prey like the barn owl and osprey. One of the many raptors i envied since year 7 because we did an endangered animal assignment and someone else got the peregrine not me (i got the green sea turtle).

I dont know how long its been since i drew one of these powerful falcons, i got an old drawing i did 4 years or so ago in a sketch pad which i did in the school library, which a girl ruined by colouring the glaze on the eye, thinking it was supposed to be completely black.....was one of my fav drawings so it pissed me off

I do too. We only have one peregrine right now, but we have bald eagles, golden eagles, several species of owls,a few mississippi kites, and two american kestrels. One is an imprint, so he's a big hit with visitors

In australia (as far as i know from asking raptor handlers) you cant do falconry with raptors until you are 18 and you must do it within a zoo or animal/raptor rehabilitation centre. And of course its illegal in your backyard to do falconry here as well, which i can tell is good because people would be catching raptors in sure for keeping them as pets

Wow 13! so lucky, at 13 i was only able to hold them or pat them at the zoo sounds like an awesome job you got

Yeah, here you have to be 16 to volunteer. But I did a raptor camp with my friend and had 2 birthday parties there and visited 3 times... so we asked the owner and she said sure, and so we filled out our applications and we are volunteers I just started like.... the beginning of this month ^^ I should be going up tomorrow, but I cant Also, Falconry is legal here, but you cant go and catch birds from the wild, they have to be captive bred. And you need a licence.

Yes, 13 But you are so lucky! I dont have any zoos where I live!! Only a petting zoo with goats and stuff...

Ah i see, even volenteers have to be over 18 at the wildlife park to work with raptors got one more year before i can! Thats cool how its legal for you guys.

There are only 2 zoo sort of places in my state, and one crocodile sort of "zoo" that you go to swim with crocs (in the saftey of a big cage of course), but the more populated states have way more zoos im sure.

Thankyou- ill look out for them.
I just thought i would let you know, you kinda inspired me to joing DA. We have similar subject interests. All i seem to draw is animals. not a huge people fan.
Your work is fantastic. I especially love 'Elvis'. I just love his attitude- he makes me smile for some reason. hehe.
Hopefully i will get my act together and upload some works.
Ill def be 'watching' you.

wow wouldnt of guessed i would enspire people, but im with you there on the animal thing, people are just something else, not nearly as fun as animals.

Elvis is female lol i named her that because of a tuffet of feathers on her head that look like a hairdoo, a very badarse chicken she is, always beating up the other chickens half her size and one thats a third of her size bigger only to be thrown over by the biggest chicken who rules over them all except one of the small ones, which beats her up...most weirdest pecking order in the name of chickens! ill watch you too, its good to see people with similar interests of my own, i have yet to look at your gallery tho, which i will
