I'm not sure how I feel about the Cyberverse designs. I think this is the first new series that has adhered so closely to the original G1 designs without really doing its own thing with them. Honestly, the toys look even more uninspired than RiD15's.

I really like the Cyberverse designs and I have faith in the upcoming show... but the toys? Look, I'll defend the RiD15 toyline, because I think there's some under appreciated gems in there. But the Cyberverse toys? They seem off to me. Like in the way that the Power of the Prime toys look to me. Like they ALMOST are good toys... But they cut a corner here and there and it makes the toy look less impressive.
With PotPs, at least they're all good toys. But because of a design blunder here or there, they don't quite make it to becoming GREAT toys. Like I mentioned, I like Rodimus Prime, but I cannot deny the problems with it. Grimlock is a fiddly mess that doesn't lock properly, and Optimus SHOULD have been the Powermaster Prime toy. They're all okay... They're just not great. In a way, I'm almost glad I haven't been able to find half of them at retail.
But with Cyberverse? Where as PotP were still decent toys that fall short of greatness... These guys seem to be subpar toys that fall short of decent. THere's a few here and there that look like they might be neat... Until I realize that "Oh wait... Does Warrior class Starscream NOT have knees?" Almost all of these, except for Shockwave and Optimus, seems to suffer from a lack of articulation. Honestly, this reminds me a lot of Armada. Limited posing on the main toys, with a more focus on gimmick than poses. (Coming off a Robots in Disguise series as well!) And I understand that this an "across the board" design for everything. Bumblebee looks like that in Cyberverse, because he looks like that in Rescue Bots, and that we're going to get a more detailed version in Generations. Same with the rest.
And that's fine. And I'm NOT the target audience, and as long as the kids like it, that's all that matters.
But I'm still underwhelmed.

Exactly. As for PotP, I just want to add that that Jazz looks awful. I'm really torn, because I like to collect Jazzes, but that figure looks so blah. That whole MAGA fiasco was the final nail in the coffin for that toy, for me. I might pick it up if I ever see it on clearance, but it's not worth paying full retail price for.

Here's the thing about Jazz, in my opinion.Β
I did get him, and at a discount, post Christmas sale at Target. And yeah... First thing I did was I grabbed my damn Gundam paint markers and covered up that MAGA bullshit.
But the toy is not a bad toy. He's not a good Jazz. He's okay at best, for a Jazz. Compared to the Reveal the Shield toy from some years back, or even the RiD15 guy, who I never had the chance to get and wish I had... Then he fails, like Combiner Wars Wheeljack did compared to the Generations and Prime Wheeljack. But on his own? There's some serious redecoing that will make him a fun toy to have. I can easily see a good Rapido, Backstreet or Overdrive from him. (Especially Backstreet. He's already got the ports there for the Triggerbot weapons.)
It's a decently solid toy... It's just nothing to write home about. I'd say if that toy gets a good redeco into a new character, pick it up. But as it is? You're not missing a lot without him. If you got a buncha Jazzes... Then you're good. The others are better.
