Are you sure it is a digital drawing? Because it's too detailes and awesome that it looks like a photo! Congratulations for the stunning use of lighting and shadings. I am pretty speechless!

the shape reminds me of Ocellus type of station in Elite Dangerous. I wonder where you drew the inspiration from

beautiful ..
question .. with the engine running - should the engine heat radiators not show some visibile hint of theri true temperature (i.e. glowing softly)

Do you paint the planet and moon separately or do you create them in 3D space as well?

So they went to Mars and Saturn?! Geez, I hope you don't plan on wearing out the crew with too many fly-by's. Not to mention use up a bunch of fuel.

One thing I'd love to point out. If you asked someone who hasn't read the description for this image which direction the ship is moving, they'd say, "Towards the sun! Duh, that's how all ships move in space." Which is incorrect. It's moving away from the sun, towards the viewer. To bad you can't show direction of movement in this image.

Yeah, but what's peculiar about this craft is that there is only one rocket, and it's at the front. Given this thing would probably be assembled in space (due to its size), it's interesting to think how it would have started moving in Saturn's direction to begin with.

ABlipinTime um, no. The rocket engine is not at the "front." kedamono-mizudori 's point is that spacecraft are not always traveling in the direction the nose is pointing. In order to decelerate, a spacecraft flips over, and points it's engine in the direction of travel and fires the engine to capture into orbit. Energies required are proportional, it takes an equal amount of energy to slow down as it took to accelerate to transfer velocity. In between burns it makes no difference what direction nose and engine are pointing.

True, yes, I read that. You're getting too technical. There aren't any engines (at least, not in this image), for controls - that would turn it around. Maybe they're visible in some other image.

Nah, just looks that way because you're standing in a hole.

Good realistic picture. Does look like an actual picture from space. You also put in a right amount of 'darkness' to give realism.
