Very good job on the "dirty" feel. How'd you obtain that grain? Did you sharpen the picture, or just add noise? What about those lines?

i did a little bit of everything. this was a big experiment.

mostly, though.. i must give over the credit to the maker of the 'old movie' brush/filter. i can't remember where i snagged it from though. the color and contrast and lighting was part natural, part my own photoshop accident.

but i did make a grain brush/filter out of black'paint'-noise-contrast-gauzian blur-and various other randomness. then i created the ps brush of it, and with those powers combine... i made it more blury than it was originally.

and then, i just layered on the movie filter, my filter/brush, and worked withthe preset ps filters, and contrast, and blah blah.

so in answer to your question. yeah, i did it all. and cheated in a grand way and used a premade brush/filter for the lines/scratches.
