Description Yes, a VERY belated Father's Day (And a sequel from "Mother's Day" pic).

Panel 1: William Van Dort, head of the fish merchant, shows his son, Victor Van Dort, a fish from the fish shop.

I have to admit, I really like William because of his sense of humor. XD

Even though we do know that Victor Van Dort was "unappreciated" by his parents, William seems to be the only parent who concerns him (in fact, when the Town Crier made call, William said "Did he said 'Corpse'?") (In fact, I could see several people likes William better than Nell).

I know there wasn't a scene of "father-son" relationship from these two, but I read few fanfics of how William cared to Victor VD, while Nell doesn't give approval to her son. Overall, I could really tell that Victor VD and his father were quite different because Victor is a music/art person, while William is a fish merchant. But I do want to draw a father-son bond from these two, even though they're different from each other.

PS: Just to remind you that William's anatomy was based off the poster of "Van Dort Fish Cans" from the movie.

Panel 2: Victor Frankenstein's dad, Edward, throwing a baseball to his son.

In the 2012 version, I know he's a lot different than the live-action version, but I couldn't help that Martin Short's voice was excellent.

In the movie, Edward was indeed being social as a travel agent with advice. But as a father, he want his son to play with other kids in town, while he's worried that he doesn't want Victor F to be weird. I know he can be very shallow sometimes, but at least he cares very much to his son.

I know; since the junior novelization, I do understand that Victor F isn't a "sports" person. But in Father's Day theme, I decided to draw these two as playing a baseball as father-son bonding, instead.

Enjoy

William van Dort was the only one of the parents I really liked in Corpse Bride. Β He treated his son like an actual person instead of criticizing him for being introverted and awkward, you know in a way like a father does. Β Neil Gaiman said it best when describing Coraline's dad in interviews for the movie version of his novel Coraline: "He has this thing where fathers embarrass their kids and they think that they're being cool." (Will thinking Maudline was Victoria. Β Need I say more?) Β William was the first to come to Victor's defense when the news of "eloping with a mystery woman" came too.
I've only seen Frankenweenie once, and even though Edward doesn't pretend to understand his son's machinations with biochemistry and physics, I think he's trying to do his best to make sure his son isn't lonely while he's gone. Β In his own way, he's trying to look out for his Victor.

Yeah, William seems to be the only parent who is concerning to his kid, unlike the rest of them. Which it's why he was shocked when he heard the Town's Crier's call about "mystery woman" and "corpse."Β

Even so, Edward was doing his best to make sure Victor F isn't alone just because of not hanging out with other kids in school. His main concern to his son that he doesn't want Victor to be "weird."Β

This is so sweet.Β  And I'm sure I've told you this before, but I just adore William.

Well, William is a funny guy, since he was voiced by Paul Whitehouse (before he did the voice of the March Hare from Burton's "Alice").

Ah, I loved the March Hare!Β  That probably explains it, then.

Lovely drawing. I always loved William Van Dort for his humorous remarks. I remember when he meets Victoria's parents the first thing he said to Maudeline was, "Why... you must be Miss Victoria. Yes, I must say you don't look a day over 20." I was cracking up when he said that. At lease he's a better than Nell.

Edward Frankenstein is also a caring father and is always advising him to go out more often but at least he isn't like Victoria's father.

Thanks.

Yeah, William was indeed funny in the film. Still, at least he does care about his own son. I could really tell that most people likes William's character than Nell's. Still, I like Tracy Ullman's voice on Nell. But Nell, like I said from the previous pics, only tried to find Victor to "get back to the path of the aristocracy."

True, Edward tries to advice his son to go out and play baseball, even though he's worried about Victor's "interest of science." But yeah, at least he's not like Victoria's dad (trust me, he's a LOT scarier than Elsa's uncle, the Mayor).

You are welcome

I love William's character but I also love Tracy Ulman's voice for Nell and Hildegarde. She definitely portrays Nell as a woman who wants to fit in aristocracy.

I thought Mr.Everglot was more creepy than than the Mayor of New Holland. They do resemble similar physical traits (round face, round stomach, and small eyes).

I do like William, though. I thought Paul Whitehouse did a good job, along with Mayhew and Paul the head-waiter in this film... and the voice of the March Hare from Burton's "Alice."

Yep, Finish and the Mayor do look alike, not to mention being "pushy" to the lovely gals, Victoria and Elsa.... and being crabby to the sweet Victors.

I didn't know Paul Whitehouse voiced the March Hare from Alice and Winderland. I think he plays humorous characters.

I agree with you 100% about The Mayor and Finis. They are just too bossy but that's a good thing because the audience can feel sympathetic to Victoria and Elsa.

Yeah, even though I'm not aware of Finis and the Mayor's pushy behavior, at least we feel sympathy toward Victoria and Elsa. Although, at least the Mayor's personality was okay at the ending than Finis's.

I don't remember the Mayor's personality at the ending of the film. As for Finis he just never changed but I guess we can't expect every antagonist character to change for good.

Well, what I meant was that at least the Mayor, along with citizens of New Holland, helped Victor Frankenstein to bring Sparky back to life at the end.

A friend of mine and myself were talkibg about the relationship between Victor VD and his father. We always thought that the two got along well and the William always wanted to be kinda like Victor's "buddy"

Fabulous job ^-^ Love how this turned out!

You don't say? Well, even though William was the only parent who concerns Victor, I always though it would be good idea to see these two get along (even though they have different taste XD). But as a buddy? Hm, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks. ^^
