Description just wanted everyone to know that my graphic novel "Postland" is available for sale.

as attempts to get this picked up by a major publisher continue, i've decided to self-publish and self-promote a limited run of the book, primarily for the purpose for meeting the demand of my most gracious fanbase i have acquired throughout working progress on this book over the last 8 months on both here and on facebook, all of whom i am humbled by and grateful for.

and so now, after 9 months of intense work, i present to you "Postland" a surrealist mystery about a woman in distress drawing elements of mysticism, jungian psychology and archetypes, and the occult.

once again, THANK YOU so very much to all of you who have faved, commented, watched, and featured over the course of the last year. my community of talented, intelligent, interesting and kind brothers and sisters here on deviant art was a major driving force in me following through with this endeavor.

Hi Jeremy, I'm really happy to see your work is now available.
Congratulation!

I gave a look to the site you linked, I'd like to buy it, but I don't have a paypal. Is there any other way to buy it? And how about the shipment costs?

I've added it to my wishlist on IndyPlanet so next time I am able to go on a little spree (i.e. when my wife ain't watching), I'll pick it up. I plan on using them when/if I ever get finished this comic I'm working on so, if you had time, I'd be very interested in any pros or cons you noticed regarding their process.

am honored brother, thank you very much.
so far so good in that respect.
i would advise you to steer clear of comixpress.

Huwman In reply to madbaumer37 [2011-08-26 21:53:56 +0000 UTC]

Heh. Well don't thank me yet but I really do plan to buy it. And of course I may remind you of that when mine comes out . . . although, at the speed I'm going, you don't have anything to worry about there for a while!

One VERY good artist on DA actually likes ComiXpress's print quality better but I don't see much difference, and I do know that I ordered some books from them the same day that I ordered some from IndyPlanet and the ComiXpress ones arrived literally MONTHS later. Mind you, the ComiXpress order was correct when it finally got here while a couple of items were missing from the IndyPlanet stuff. But, on the other hand (would that be the third hand?!) they did send the missing stuff right away with no argument.

I do think I'll probably go with IndyPlanet though since I haven't heard anything too bad from the creators' perspective. I take it you had a pretty bad experience with ComiXpress?

i can't wait to see this. what's it about?

maybe things have changed over there. but my last graphic novel "mindfields" i released through comixpress. good quality printing. and the price was right. but any time anybody, myself included, tried to order copies of it off of the website, they either never received it at all, or the finally received months down the road but only because they repeatedly sent angry emails until something was done about it.

It's basically just your standard giant woman, detective noir, mad scientist, science fiction, horror, teenage dope fiend, pirate, jungle, hillbilly, superhero, funny animal story!

This might help explain a bit:

[link]

Here's a recent splash page (with links to a few more pertinent pages in the text underneath)

[link]

Anyhow, it's just a mess of lowbrow genres with a story that's essentially an excuse to go through 'em all. Very lowbrow and not edgy, deep, metaphysical, cerebral material like your stuff, I'm afraid. Just dumb fun.

And your description of ComiXPress is exactly what I'd feared. I think I will have to go with Ka-Blam/IndyPlanet. Thanks for that and for your interest in general!

dude, those pieces are awesome.
the map is particularly gorgeous work.

you're far too kind to my work.
"the secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources" -albert einstein

your work isn't dumb. it just has no pretensions.

this concept of yours is really cool. i'm really interested in seeing how you pull it off. if it were me i would try to make this long and complex story that subtley pulls you from one genre into another without the reader really noticing it until they're already engrossed in the plot and/or theme of the story (whatever those may be)

but again, you are dropping the pretenses and having fun with it.

I'm very glad you like this crazy project. I'm actually being pretty blatant about each time they enter a new genre/neighbourhood since I want to do a big splash page for each one. Subtlety probably just isn't one of my trademark attributes!

I just have to get the first issue (of 3) out soon or it's going to drive me nuts since it's been in the works 3 years! Then I think the next 2 books are going to be a LOT more sketchy and not so "anal" in the inking style. Thanks for your interest in this stuff. I really appreciate it.
