I'm always a sucker for mermaid photographs, and I love what you did here with the lighting and color choices. The orange on blue makes for a striking contrast and over all it's nice to look at.

The only thing I want more of from this photo is for the model to be more dynamic with her pose/face, and for there to be less negative space. It doesn't need to be much closer, since you'd lose that contrast of colors, but right now there's a lot of background and not enough model.

As for the pose/model, however, there could've been more unique poses she could chose from in order to create interesting shapes for the viewer to look at. I'm not sure what your location was like, or how much time it would've taken to communicate with your model, but next time, I'd either ask her to extend through her whole body, head included, or wait until she was able to finish her mid swim pose. From personal experience, I know posing above water and underwater can be quite different, so it might just take a lot of shots before a picture turns out as dynamic as it needs to be.

Besides that, I think you picked a great model, color combo and location. It just needed an extra touch to make it more unique than other mermaid shoots out there.
