Koichi is a son of merchants travelling from one country to another. When he was 4 years old, across the border suddenly group of bandits block their way. His parents tried to protect him but all he can do is to watch his parents be slughtered by the bandits.

Koichi was adopted by the bandits and trained him to be like them. At the age of five he had his first kill, at eight he killed seven men triple his age at the same time, and at fourteen, he together with the bandits who adopted him they'd put a village into grave.

On a mission to counquer a legendary temple, they destroyed anything and kept anything valueable. He saw a katana (Bachiatari Nagaraku), found it interesting and took it. When he opened it, memories flashed in his mind, he remembered his parents, how they were killed and started to hate humans. He became insane, opened his eyes wide (Chishio Gekido) and kill everyone... Atamagaokashii has been unleashed. Ever since that day he never let go of the katana, if he does he'll never see his parents again. He travelled anywhere wherever he wants, killing anyone along the way and earned the name Kotokegao Kira the gentle face killer. He never stop killing until one day he suddenly stopped when saw a bird, he remembered his toy gave by his father.

The bird he saw was eventually a crow, while he's at peace watching it, he ask himself what is his purpose to live. An old man suddenly came and asked him to join the Karasu Tenshu. He immidiately swing his sword and tried to kill the old man but he eventually lose without any scratch to the old man. Owing his life, he agreed to join the team and gave his loyalty? to the old man.
