Impressive painting of Boatmurdered. I've finished reading the tale not too long ago, and this somber rendition of possibly the most (in)famous fortress in all of Dwarven history looks, well, somber.

"The dwarves of Khazad-dΓ»m dug too deep and awakened a daemon of darkness and fire. 'Tis not so with the dwarves of the Smooth Points of Pride. These creatures, having long abandoned any trace of sanity, did craft a much greater monster from the earth itself."
This picture is very epic, by the way! (yeah, I'm about 4 years slow, but...)

Yah I have to agree, nice quote. The Balrog has nothing on the legendary mismanagement and insanity that was Koganusan.

When I did a search, this image popped up right next to this [link] image. Those 2 right next to each other creates both a striking contrast, yet are so similar that it seems like one has merely looked at the same scene in reverse. It perfectly sums up boatmurdered. Just something I thought I'd share.

A moment of silence for those few, great Dwarves.

That is exactly how I imagined that. Great work, this should work as concept art for a massive 300 million $ movie production about Boatmurdered. Pure epic.
However didn't you forget about enormous gecko monument?

I don't know about a boatnurdered movie. People don't like tragedies anymore. This isn't ancient greece.

This is beyond awesome. The decrepit road leading to the door of the cursed fortress, the charred hulks of elephants, burned to death by the Boatmurdered Final SolutionΒ© and the glowing pit of the entrance where so many dwarves met their doom...
That said, where's the little girl?

majicxiii In reply to freelance217 [2010-12-16 19:53:28 +0000 UTC]
She's, uh, very small. And hidden by smoke. And inside the fortress.
<_<

Wow. I've read Boatmurdered and seen the sketchy depiction of its fall, but to see it in colour... Words cannot describe the sheer amount of epic this image contains.

Oh, Dwarf Fortress. And Koganusan. You both rock my socks.
And this is a very good drawing, though I do miss the little dwarfgirl playing with the bones of the long dead.
