I finished this picture about an hour ago, then Painter promptly closed itself without warning, which meant that I had to start from the near beginning all over again. Needless to say, I was less than pleased.But in other news, FMA is the coolest thing since rice, in my opinion. I should be doing stuff for my art trades, but Ed and Al are just too cute and needed to be drawn.
I'm not sure how well Ed turned out, at least he's recognizable as Ed (I hope) but I liked how Al turned out. Al's...just amazing, considering that he's a suit of armor and yet can convey so much emotion...those two are pretty awesome, in any case.
This was colored in Painter 8, with a tiny bit of fixing up in Photoshop. The random Japanese is ...well, just my own thing. But yeah, Ed and Al rocks. Maybe I'll draw Roy or Hawkeye next...

One thing I've noticed with FMA though is that whenever hair covers a part of the eye, it doesn't show the outline of the rest of the eye that's being blocked like in most anime styles.

Ed looks fine. I didn't know Ed's and Al's names could be written in kanji. The manga has them written in katakana.

On the top right: Ed... Ed-san...
Lower right:
Na--Nani o surummori desuka. Ed-san...??
What does that translate to?
Am I correct in thinking that the kanji are for Ed's and Al's names?

Majo-chan, woman of mysterious japanese dialog!
Er, Ed's going 'heh heh heh' which is in english for some reason. Al is stuttering "B-brother? What are you planning to do, brother?" (I suspect this is delivered in the tone of "You're not seriously thinking about blowing up the Colonel, are you, Brother??" type comment). The kanji to the left is a poor imitation of the random reminder of their ages that the series throws out (that whole "Older brother, age *insert age here*. Younger brother, age *insert age minus one here*."
As Yayoi pointed out earlier, I got the kanji to 'ototo' (younger brother) wrong, but tis fixed now.

Ask Jeff to get the anime for you (FullMetal Alchemist), it's SOOOO good!!! I triple recommend it and if he doesn't get it for you, remind me the next time I go over (which will probably be a long time...oh, wait, are you goign to the Yellowstone thing?) and I'll make you a copy of what I have. Yay, FMA! I finished wathing the episodes I got yesterday, and you're right, the serie's GREAT! I love Ed's character, he seems so human... you did a wonderful job in capturing those two! ^^
