Made for the Corazon Week event on Tumblr: but this counts for DAY 1 (July 9), which theme is "Donquixote Family". So, here you are the brothers Rocinante and Doflamingo with their parents: Homing and the still unnamed mother (I like calling her "Dulcinea", who read Cervantes' Donquixote novel should know why--I also have a headcanon about her and I think she is a clumsy person just like Roci). I had fun drawing this, but it also made me sad... If a few years ago someone had told me that in the future I would been drawing a fanart of a Celestial Dragons family, and that a couple of them would become two of my fave One Piece characters, I would had never believed them... and yet here we are.

I can totally see Roci having gotten his clumsiness from their mom. That's just precious (just like this picture).

Oh! Β I just read about your name for Doffy and Roci's mother. Β It makes perfect sense as Don Quixote's love interest and a practical lady, contrasting with her impractical knight who sees windmills as dragons.

Well, the windmills were burning, so Quixote thought it was a dragon I think. Β I haven't read the actual text, only a summary.

I absolutely adore the style you used for this drawing, and the whole picture is just too adorable and sweet for words! They are all so precious that I feel like crying.. 
This lovely family portrait would surely make me smile if I didn't know what tragic future awaits each of them. Now the happy faces (and Doffy too, even though he looks annoyed more than anything, that small angry child. xD) make me feel more sad about the huge loss... The family that was destroyed, it's such a huge tragedy... 
I'm just surprised that I hadn't commented on this one already. Better late than never I guess.

Anyway, thanks for the detailed comment, it's hard to get this kind of feedback... I'm still sad for the latest chapter, and seeing this fanart again now makes me feel even worse.Β ;___;
At this point, I hope we'll at least see Doflamingo one last time before the end of the arc, but I fear what we could see... Dressrosa was filled with tragedies, but while its inhabitants got an happy ending somehow, so far the Donquixote family (the original one) and, partially, Law, didn't.Β

It's alright. I'm usually the one with the late replies so I totally understand. Even now I SHOULD be doing something else (like sleeping, it's 3 am) than writing comments. But I decided to answer this one at least. 
You are welcome, I want to say something meaningful every now and then, and this totally deserves it! ^^
I feel you there. Even if I'm right and Corazon turns out to be alive and Doflamingo changes for the better, some things were still lost permanently... Thinking about it makes me extremely sad. Just like thinking how painful it must have been, for every one of them....
It's a small comfort that Law got to speak with the only other person who also knew the real Corazon, and that he got reaffirmed that Corazon really loved him for who he was, not because he wanted to use Law for his own goals.. It made me even sadder to find out that Law was still thinking that he was so unlovable that even Corazon might have only viewed him as a tool and cared about him because he was a D. That it was such a shock for Law that someone could really just love him... Law and Corazon really think alike in many ways... If they'd just realize their own value..
And Doflamingo is even worse off, he understands absolutely nothing... After all of this, none of the issues between those tragic three have been solved. It's all just left hanging, but I hope this story will be concluded eventually, and I hope there will be some happiness for those guys finally..!
Unfortunately the Donquixote parents will not be a part of such happier times, their innocent mistake really cost them way too much.

I totally agree with you on everything you wrote... Their story is still open for me, and I hope it will get more closure, sooner or later.
If it was left like this, I would be forever sad for the whole tragedy of the Donquixote family, and the terrible consequences it had on other people, Dressrosa inhabitants first of all...Β
Anyway, after his conversation with Sengoku, Law should have understood how much Corazon loved him, at least... I really, really hope that next he'll learn to smile more, and that he'll try to leave the past behind, but without ever forgetting about him, of course. *thinks about Sengoku's words and feels about crying again*
