Description
Here in the open seas of Falabria, two Megaxiphias imperator (Imperial Giant Swords) aggressively pursue smaller fast-moving prey, such as the dolphin-sized predatory mackerel-related fish Felicthys minor or the much smaller Neodus vorax. M.imperator is the largest marine predator of the Falabrian oceans, reaching lengths of 18-20m. Other species reached lengths of 10-16m. Even though they are swordfish-like animals, they are more closely related to Groupers because of counterfeit evolution; also this is especially true that Megaxiphias evolved to occupy the ecological niche of the giant mosasaurs such as Tylosaurus and Mosasaurus from earth’s past as well, and they also greatly resemble them as well. So think of a mix of sailfish and mosasaurs, and then you get members of the genus Megaxiphias such as M.imeorator, the largest species.
