Description I decided to try something different when printing the template for Snake. I've always wondered why Pepakura does not support duplex printing internally; it isn't like it would be hard to do, and it would make a lot of models much simpler to build and less prone to mistakes while building. When I say duplex printing, I mean printing the cut and fold lines on the opposite side of the page, so there are no cuts or score marks made on the textured side. This way, there is no ambiguity about fold lines or cut lines and it is a compromise between the look of a lineless build with the ease of building a lined template.

I tried to do this on my own by exporting the sheets to BMP and mirroring them. It worked for the most part, but Pepakura has interesting theories about aspect ratios, resolutions and letter sized paper. I am fairly certain the parts came out too narrow (and slightly misaligned, which is more of a printing error). He looks too narrow to me and his head looks messed up, but I wasn't interested enough to build him twice and compare.

The template itself is a lot better than the previous SSBB characters, but there are a couple of things that bugged me. His hands and the lower part of his mullet are multiple textured pieces back to back; a duplex print of a solid color would have made more sense and would look better, especially with the hair. Also, his hands are *too* simple -- given his size, they could have easily been solid objects instead of thin claws. It also would have been nice to have something to put in his hands as well; he looks rather plain with empty hands. SSBB doesn't have in game models for his handguns, but it does have the grenade launcher, grenades and other things -- and of course, as model rippers tend to forget, it's entirely possible to use another model to supplement the original. It wouldn't be that hard to make a simple gun for him to hold.

Still, out of the four SSBB templates made by RedYoshi, this is the best one. He was definitely improving and if he had continued to make one model a month like he'd originally planned, he could have made some impressive templates by the end of the cycle of characters. I would have liked to have Pit, Fox, Wolf or even a decent Kirby -- but maybe someone else will step up to the plate.
