Why exactly cant the Moonpresence control us if we use the three cords of the eye?

My theory is that by consuming these thirds of umbilical cord, we actually start becoming an Old One ourselves, hence why it cannot use us as a surrogate like it did with German.
This is based purely on the fact that we become an infant Old One in the "true" ending after defeating the Moon Presence.
