Thanks! I'm using pure color for my shadows now instead of just going for something dark. I'm also muting the character color a lot so the shading color becomes more prominent. I like how this approach looks, and I'll be playing around with it some more.
And no, she probably isn't up to any good. Luckily she's strapped in an egg shape.

The effect you're getting is much more expressive. I get tired of the ol' dodge and burn. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you achieve with this effect. I might even ask for a tutorial.
