Description I built a pinhole camera over the weekend to try and use some strange expired polaroid film I purchased a while ago.
Out of 10 shots, 9 jammed and thus got ruined.
This is the only one that came out with anything.

Overall, the camera was a dud. But it was a fun exercise nonetheless.

VERY expired Viva iso160 film.
Home made pinhole camera.

These are the kind of color fields I get lost in. Beautifully composed and vibrant.

Cheers

Pinhole cameras can be the most annoying thing in the world sometimes, but you got a great image, good for you!

Thanks darling!
This particular pinhole was a total disaster, but that was mainly due to my complete stupidity when it came to the film. I reckon I'd have a whole lot more luck if I were to give this another shot.
That being said, I'm in love with the result I got out of this.

Yeah, that's really worth the effort! For the record, I went through 3 cameras before I got even one image out of them (they were paper pinholes), so you're lucky!

I'm setting up a darkroom in my bathroom pretty soon, so I'm keen to try some paper pinholes out.

Really? A word of advice: don't buy a kit. They are full of light leaks. Buy one of those sturdy photo boxes, they work infinitely better.

oh, I was just gonna build it myself, bit of cardboard and some tape and black paint.

well ive done the exact same thing with an old 600 camera i had and i gutted all the electronics and was left with the banjo part of it then i just used the origonal shutter the only problem was i never got a really clear image (altho some really neat ones) and i had to pull the film out of the camera and put it through a roller myself which worked well cuz i never had a split

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mandapants In reply to modout [2007-09-15 03:04:49 +0000 UTC]

what kind of back?
No back.
I made a camera out of cardboard and attached the rollers from my spectra system camera, which is why it jammed at such.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

modout In reply to mandapants [2007-09-15 03:23:30 +0000 UTC]

I guess that kinda constitutes a back...
you should hack up an old 100 series camera like an old 300 or 400 family folding guy... that way you don't have to worry about the motorizedness and you get tabs...
oh and the film is slightly cheaper

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mandapants In reply to modout [2007-09-15 03:47:29 +0000 UTC]

Well I only got one packet of this particular kind of film.
It expired in 2000 and cost me 5 bucks.

When I made the pinhole, it wasn't motorized at all, it was just the front section of my polaroid that I taped to the box. I then fed the taps through the rollers.
I'm gonna upload some photos of the camera itself.
