Description I am making a manga, and this is the first character I am developing. His name is Kojisai Taisu. If you want to see more of this character, this picture is part of a sequence of pictures featuring him. Feel free to use the links below to see more.

<--previous<-- -->next-->

I was inspired by 's newest Kenshin picture for this. If you are curious, Go to her page, it is the newest deviation at this time. Anyway, I was impressed by the way she did drew movement, and so I gave it a try as well.

I needed to show his tiger form here because I haven't done it in a while and unlike my other realism for him, I detailed his hair.

That's about all there is to the picture. Hope you like.

This is being entered into the contest at [link]
Koji's element is water and ice. Like water, he has more than one form, and his personality can thaw and melt and turn to steam just like water does. He can be cold, calculating and detached, he can be bubbling happy and friendly, flowing into your life as easily as water, and he can be like steam, invisible, light, and mysterious. it all depends on the circumstances... just like with water not being in control of what form it takes. The element he is strongest with using is water and ice, as the picture for xx-rin's contest shows. In this picture, he is ice. Cold.

I don't know if I ever commented on this piece but I'm going to now.

I really like how you drew the guy that's getting sliced. His in the dark but you can still see his expression of fear and death on his face. Also Koji looks really nice! ^^ Nice movement with this piece too, you did a wonderful job on it! Okay I feel better now...don't be surprise to find more comments by me since I'm going through your gallery again and I'm going to comment on a lot of pieces that I didn't in the past. So I'm sorry before hand for the message box overload.

Yay, I am happy that you are looking through it again, and seeing everything. That really means a lot to me, and I am glad you noticed and appreciated that guy back there, most people dont' seem to see him at all, they are too focused on Koji.

Kenshin: Oro?! You're talking like this one, that you are.
Leah: I know, I'm surprised I haven't started to say "this one".

I say this one from time to time, and I say Oro, and I like putting those sentence enders on things... just around my closest friends though, otherwise, people don't get it.

Exactly, if you do it around strangers they think you're weird. Which I don't blame them since I am weird.

Weird is good though, because it measn we are different from everyone else... which is deffinately good.

Well ... THAAANK you, I spent a long time trying to figure out how to do it. I made a tutorial on basically what I do if you're interested... though i hardly think you need any tips from me.

Azmyst In reply to manic-goose [2008-02-28 01:52:56 +0000 UTC]

Of course I do... I suck at hair. Why do you think all my pieces conveniently avoid painting hair. I will check out the tutorial. Thanks.

Here, I'll give you a link. I don't think you need help with choosing colors of figuring out where to put them, so this is perfect, because it is all about my technique making strands of hair that look somewhat real. [link] hope it helps.

Silver-Strife-Angel [2007-12-20 14:21:24 +0000 UTC]

^^ Well, the first thing that draws my eye is how wonderfully the hair is detailed...up to where you can see the upmost strand in the closest lock of hair... Then, my focus turns to his eyes!! I love the way it just bores through you and it's a calm chaos in it... I think it really suits him...I think the blood looks a lil bit furry, though it may just be the glare that makes it seem that way...question sensei...why is the glare so bright if there's no source of light there? I dun quite understand lighting so I'm hoping for some tips...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

manic-goose In reply to Silver-Strife-Angel [2007-12-21 05:01:18 +0000 UTC]

First, you are right about the blood. I'm not as good at that as other things. This subject is actually my weak point so I am doing pictures with this mood and content because I desperately need the practice. As for the lighting, the light source is directly in front. Think of a flash on a camera, it is in the same place as the view... or just a bit above, so you don't see the actual light source, but you see the subject lit up. Also think of taking a picture of a person where the sun is behind you and shining on the person in the picture. That is why the light seems to be coming directly at them... but it isn't a broad source of light, because part of the face is still lost in shadow... this means that Ko-Chan is passing through a thin band of light and it just caught him. Seeing how it is blue in tone, it would be a beam of moon light, which implies that the subjects are behind buildings... perhaps in an alley, and just part of them is in a place where the shadows don't fall on them... does that make any sense. in short, the light source is behind the view.
