Description This was probably my most time-consuming piece so far, possibly even more so than Relastein, which took AGES! After over two days of designing, redesigning, shading, lighting, adding, removing, improving my techniques, and tweaking, I have FINALLY created Mega Luxray! And, after all that, I must confess; I have very little to say on the piece! However, it should be mentioned that, whilst designing Mega Luxray, I became ensnared within a bizarre train of thought - Luxray appears to share several baboon/mandrill-like qualities, in my opinion anyway.

I had always thought that Shinx looked a little ape-like as a kid with its big, Aipom-esque ears. It got me thinking; "What if the Shinx line was originally intended to be based on baboons/mandrills, but was changed perhaps as lion-based Pokémon were in higher demand, or perhaps due to a creative change whilst designing?" The more I thought about this, the more I began to think how baboon/mandrill Pokémon would be a great idea for not just standard Pokémon, but a starter line.

I had them placed as Fire types in my mind when I realised "We already HAVE ape-based Fire starter Pokémon - Chimchar, Monferno, and Infernape.". I suddenly started recalling similarities between the designs of Chimchar and Shinx, some subtle (the eye style, and 'top-knot'), some a little less inconspicuous (the ears). I further began to notice how Chimchar's fire tail and cream patch of fur might be a nod towards a mandrill's brightly coloured buttocks. It then hit me that Monferno was most likely entirely based on a baboon/mandrill!

In conclusion, I believe that the Shinx evolution line MAY have a tie in somewhere with the Sinnoh Fire starter line. Which would have inspired which, however, is anyone's guess! It is, of course, highly likely that this, being simple speculation, is entirely false, however, I felt it worth noting anyway.

Basically, what I ended up drawing from this, was that designing one or more mandrill/baboon-based Pokémon might be a good idea for the future of my work, so I'll bare this in mind!

Normally I would do a long, pointless review of the Pokemon, but all I know is that this is probably the coolest fakemon mega I have seen (sense seeing some of my favorite Pokemon get one, but what are you going to do

Yay! XD Thanks so much! I spent SO long on this one! Lol As for my next project, I don't know. I've got ideas around an anemone Pokémon, a honeypot ant Pokémon, and an alternate Wingull evolution based on an albatross. Thanks again for your comment btw, it made my day. (Really need to stop inserting smileys now! XD)
