damn, if i didn't know better i'd say that you were trying to steal my crown as the king of ultra detailing!
this is very sweet dude, infact it's shocking to see how much you have improved while i was away, especially concidering i didn't think you actually had anything to improve!
the use of light and dark in the crevices in his suit, especially around his neck and chest is superb, and thew overall pose is dynamic and menacing.
from a design point of view, i would probibly have chosen much heavier and bulkier legs to go with the heavily armoured shoulder plates, but i believe that you were working to an existing design for this, so i can't blame you for that. it don't take anything away from the picture at all anyway, it's just my 'designers eye' kicking in, nothing more.
keep up the good work dude, and as much as i love your CG work, i'd love to see more of these as well.

All I can say is wow. This is truly amazing. But the only thing I can see that's bothering me is the left foot and shin. They just seem to plain black and white to me, but it doesn't take away from the picture. I would love to see this coloured.

Yep, it doesn't seem to fit with the detail on the rest of the gundams shadows. But that's just me.

Nice work. Great inking too. Not easy to do by hand.

You're very welcome. I've been working with the classic dip pen and I still have to really slow down and think of my line weights. Also, I'm not far without correction fluid at my table. *lefty and have a horrible habit of smudging.* I have to be extra careful because I'm left handed, and I have to work from right to left. IT's actually kind of funny because I tend to do a lot of things backwards...

well.. im not that far from correction fluid myself on this deviation.... but before this one.... i never used it... i kinda wonder if ill ever get back that way again.. but i do hope so..... i heard dip-pen is the best.. i never tried it cuz i cant afford one myself... though i think it requires great patience and a whole lot of practice.... i hope you master it.^^ its gonna be awesome if you master it. there's a certain graceful quality in the strokes of a dip pen i think.

Thank you. Well, the comic book I'm working on now, is all done by dip pen. The only thing I do in the computer is the gray tones and the dialogue. Other than that, the book is hand drawn and inked carefully by hand.

Oh, I forgot to ask you, are you using technical pens or the classic co quill? I'm looking to see if I can actually get back into technical pens for my work because sometimes the dip pen doesn't do those fine lines like I'd want them to do. And I'm trying to find good technical pens to work with, and not cheap ones.

.... well i use techpens.. but only when im sure of how my hand performs on the lines....my hand shakes sometimes.. its something i got from my workplace.... i often end up using a ball point pen... but the most reliable inking tool i love to use are felt tip pens0.3's and 0.5's and black ink markers.... its a lot expensive but reliable in my book.

That's what happens to me too. I have tendonitis in my left wrist and that's due to how tightly I hold the pen, to get the ink lines straight. I'm also branching out into using a watercolor brush for large areas of shadow. In a lot of comics, people are starting to rely on the computer for shadowing as well as gray toning. I do use some light shadow tone in the computer but mostly I try to accomplish the shadows by hand. The rest of the tones are done with the computer. Even my light effects.
As far as the drawing, that too, is done by hand. I start out on paper, with rough drafts, then from there, I go to bristol board, and from that, it's a trip to the copy shop and then to my scanner. Takes longer, but I'm much happier with how it comes out. Traditional media just can't be replaced by the computer in some parts.

The Gundam fan in me just died and went to Heaven, this is fantastic! I like that it looks like you left in some of your original hand shading, it give the Gundam a more gritty feel. The pose and shading is amazing too.

I really like the hand-inking style on this, it gives it some extra personality. Love the contrast. Good work.
