So, we have what appears to be an M-4 robotic unit (from Flint Industries) "fused" with seemingly organic tentacles. Hmm, did an advanced scout of the Borg (given this is the 5 year mission era) assimilate a squid?! Just kidding. Just because it's seemingly cybernetic doesn't mean it has to be the Borg. Doesn't even have to be cybernetic. It could be a probe the landing party (none of this bloody "away team" business for classic Trek) is trying to retrieve and it happened to "thump" some multi-legged creature on the noggin, pissing it off big time.
Okay, I assume the Caitain is M'Ress, but who's the raven haired officer? The hair keeps making me think "Troi" even though that doesn't make sense.
I love the swampy water and mud you've depicted. You know, that's something they never did in the original series. They never had anyone immersed in water, never mind mud.
Very cinematic!
Sincerely,
Bill

In case no one remembers the lady that played Deanna Troi's Mother was Majel Barrett (did I spell that right?), she also was the voice for the Federation Star Ship computers, and most importantly to me at least was her appearance in the Pilot Episode "The Cage" as Number One. In the later episodes she played Nurse Chapel. Perhaps this could be one of her other incarnations?
