when I see something as good as this, I wish I was the one thinking of it ... I prefer this one from the whole series

conceptually stunning and visually even more so....i love the duality within it, not just represented by the two men, but also by the contrasting forces at play here....nature, our first-hand information source, requiring much more than studying, but interpretation and perception, ....and replicated second-hand information, giving us knowledge through communication of ideas, but diluted through time and the exchanging of concepts, distancing us from the first-hand lessons to be learnt. they are all very balanced images, carrying a serious message using a humorous vehicle. excellent series of images. congratulations. if these aren't on public display somewhere, they should be.
and sorry if this is long-winded or very jumbled and hectic. =seamonkeycircus put it best

Thanks for your insightful critique! It's great to hear somone grasping for the messages, and interesting to hear different perspectives of intent. very close.

Fascinating, although I disapprove of your mistreatment of books...

well, in a few years I hope to understand this photo since there seems to be some deep meaning in it. I'm gonna fav it and look at it again when I am a wiser man.

My reading: the Stoics attempt to capture Nature by way of Philosophy. Then they create an island of Philosophy and ignore Nature. Finally they exhaust Philosophy and attempt to surrender to Nature, but Philosophy still forms the bridge they must use to do this. However, physics suggests that at the end of the third image, they will experience Nature directly by plunging into the rocky stream, thus bringing the question to rest.

Verry well read indeed! Close to my actual intent, yet distant enough to invoke novelty into the piece. Thank you!
