Description 2009. Hong Kong. China. Playboys II.

The shot was taken through an almost lens-fitting hole in a fence. Just moments after getting up from the subway and trying to find my way to the Happy Valley horse racecourt.

Walking past the basketball court, I saw the frozen situation of the players waiting for the hoop/no-hoop/hoop in their minds from the corner of my eye, had just a fraction of a second to act and push my camera to the fence to get the shot. Very happy with the result considering the circumstances, but thinking back, I'm very happy I didn't ram my camera any harder.

Hopefully you enjoy the moment, here is also the first one of the Playboys series:

Other shots for the series waiting on the corner of my computer for their appearance.

I love the intensity in their faces. It truly shows the way sports players think. You can just sense their tension as they wait for the ball to enter the hoop. It's a really great shot, and the humanity of it reminds me of what it feels to be alive. It also makes me want to play a good game of basketball!

I love the way you capture all those interesting facial expressions, and I like how the background is a bit faded.

Thank you a lot! I tried to put the aperture to be small enough in order to direct the focus to the players, but still capture the background a bit. I think the extremely bright weather helped also a bit (in making the 'fog' more visible) in my efforts

Yeah, the background is perfect -- it adds a lot of interest without being overwhelming.
