Description First real attempt at clouds, ref used.

I wish people would comment more and like less. If you do, what do you like about it? If you don't, what don't you like? If it's meh, any reason why? Everyone's input is helpful!

Fantastic work, I rarely do cityscapes or buildings in general because I am quite awful at perspective. However in my humble opinion your perspective and coloring is spot on here. My only criticism is that I at first thought the space between buildings was fog, until reading the comments and realizing otherwise. The smoke adds to that effect as well, I think if you were to use some higher contrast colors its may give a more realistic representation of water. Overall great work

Thank you for your critique! It's supposed to be water with fog hanging over it, so you were partly right.

My eye instantly focus on the sun. Great work on the composition there. In my opinion, it would be better if the water looks a bit more realistic. Also, it is important to understand that there are no white light, especially in a sunset in which the sun will look a bit reddish. So i think that the highlights on the building is not white. I can notice that you use some yellow, but it is too subtle for my eye to see. Also, at the lower left corner of the picture is there an object there? If yes it is not very visible. Thanks :3

Thank you for your suggestions, especially about there being no white light, that's a good point.

I saw you requested critique so I'm willing to give you some!

The buildings execpt the tower seems more like it were made of rubber and the water is just a smudge overall.
But the colors are on point, the buildings, the water and the sky. Really good concept and I really like the clouds!

So I would just suggest you study a bit of material to make it more realistic because I can see with studying you will make it. But it's a really nice picture with out a doubt!   Hope I was of any help!

Yeah, I know what you mean about commenting, I'm not a professional, so take this with a grain of salt:

First of all I like it.
I like the colors you used and I think the lights are fine too, I also like the composition. I think the clouds came out really well, and they're not easy at all to do.
What I like less is the water, because it's a bit too foggy, I'm pretty sure with some reference it will improve. I would also add some more detail to the buildings in the background immediately beyond the water, nothing too detailed, the outline of a couple of windows or so. And this is really nitpicky, but I'd make the house in the foreground (the one pretty much in the middle of the image) a bit wider.

I hope this can be helpful.

Thank you for your reply! It's very helpful. I think you're right about the water and the buildings. A lot of the time other people can see issues that the maker can't, something about looking at it for so long messes with my eyes Thanks again!

No worries, and I agree, after you spend some time on a drawing it's hard to see it clearly. Glad I could help.
