This image is compelling and seems very sad to me. With her back to us, she's more anonymous, a nameless woman standing on the edge of the water. She seems to be trying to look into her future, but the view is unclear - misty - and she needs to "cross the great waters." It's almost as though she's on the verge of something, hesitating, uncertain... alone. Perhaps she's pining for a lover...
I'm never sure what "vision" means, but I gave her 4 stars. What the heck. Maybe it means that Maria had a firm idea of what she wanted to create. I believe she did - she certainly executed the image well.
I didn't give much on originality, because this scene isn't unique. I've seen similar scenes, so I only gave 2.5 stars.
Maria's technique is always masterful, and it was so in this image. Her execution is wonderful. She knows her medium and uses it too good effect.
I gave high marks for impact, because it had a powerful impact on me. As I said, the scene is compelling to me, somewhat mysterious, but very sad.
I always like Maria's work, and this image is exceptional.
