See, THIS is the Joker I love. Nolan-Joker was an interesting take on a "Realistic" Batman, but it gets real old after a few years.
The reason some of us like comic books is because it's so different from our world. In our world we have no super hero to call for help. No one to fight for us when we're in trouble.
The Joker is supposed to be an insane, devilishly handsom genius that looks about as friendly as a bottle of arsanic. The one in the comics, being such a contrast with Batman; the picture on Yin and Yang.
I'm not even counting New 52 Joker. The Joker I love doesn't tear off his face. He's to vain to do that.

Looks similar to Conrad Veidt in "The Man Who Laughs", the original visual inspiration for the Joker. This just adds extra coolness.
