Looks suspiciously like a lovely GSV to me, Mark Volumetric lighting only serves to make your Culture images even better...

Nice one Mark. I love how this turned out, and that volumetric lighting is just 'lush'!!

MarkJayBee In reply to GrungeTV [2013-06-24 11:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Cheers Jay, glad you approve of my use of your excellent image! Glad you think the
VL is 'lush', but it would be sooooo easy to go really OTT with it, hopefully I haven't here.

FractalDust [2013-06-24 03:07:09 +0000 UTC]

You've done it again, MarkJayBee! You make the VL look effortless, but I know it may have taken you quite a while to get it worked out.
I was also glad to read your comment on noisy formulas, I thought it was just me - it seems like AmazingBox is very versatile, but noisy? Maybe it's just what it's paired with...
Anyway, keep up the great work, it's always inspiring.
(btw, until a few years ago, I owned a Mamiya 645, but I sold it when film and chemicals became too hard to find or pricey.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkJayBee In reply to FractalDust [2013-06-24 11:03:46 +0000 UTC]

Thanks FD! Not in the least bit effortless; as you say, it did take a good bit of fiddling to get 'right' here.
Noise is alas the bane of the fractaleer's life, but there are always ways to reduce it, but usually with a cost
in added render time. But good things are always worth waiting for imo.
Can't honestly remember when I last used the Mamiya - digital is so much more 'immediate'! - but I kinda
like the image as a profile pic.

LionardStoryBuilder [2013-06-23 21:55:17 +0000 UTC]

Fantastic! But I don't know why I get only noisy fractals :/ Those structures are beautiful

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkJayBee In reply to LionardStoryBuilder [2013-06-23 22:25:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Leonardo! I'm afraid 'noise' in 3D fractals is one of those things that we are all
constantly battling, as it varies depending not only on the formula types you're using, but how
you use them too!
This little tut may help though....mandelubber.blogspot.co.uk/201...
