The three top left panels are him doing MapQuest tm, turns out the treasure was a big rock? A rock that didn't seem significant at all to Jay, who had just wandered for hours looking for the "treasure."
The right panel is him getting the special quest berries for Alchemy 100, Jay almost died.
The last panel is Full Moon View. Jay has proven he's an expert at de-belting mons since the bar incident during the orphan murder, so he decided this quest was perfect for his skill set. Might as well anger a bunch of bandits and steal their pants, what's he got to lose at this point.
