I don’t know if this is true for you too, but I love Red’s character because he’s the trainer that you first acquaint yourself to the Pokemon world with (assuming you started off with either red, blue or yellow) and thus the first trainer that becomes a part of you and that you become attached to. Yet somehow, you suddenly find him atop Mt. Silver in the 2nd generation of Pokemon games, and his silence is no longer the type you fill in with your own thoughts and intentions; it’s distancing, alien and unknown. You don’t know how he got up there, why he hasn’t been calling home. It could be for the saddest or simplest of reasons, but the point is you have no idea what happened, and defeating him doesn’t make things any clearer, and it feels like you don’t know him anymore. You started creating stories with him as one with you and even when his journeys are no longer yours you still find yourself making stories about him, filling the holes in the chronology of his life as you did when you first played as him.

TLDR: I love how Red’s so familiar and yet so enigmatic at the same time.

About the costume:

The vest was tailored, the VS seeker was made by ~Kyoken and ~applebananas (they molded the sculpey, I painted it and “finished” it), and everything else (cap, shoes, backpack) was made by me.
