I completely despite the stock Centauri "beak" bow, so i found Mallacores redesign an improvement for sure. I felt like the units perhaps were a bit too techy for my taste (hull structure details), but an improvement still.
Would you elaborate on two things:
- Is this actually an escort, i.e. no anti-ship duty indended ?
- Where does it place in the timeline, does this see service in the fictionally Centauri / Earth war teased by the Technomages ?
- Where exactly does the name "Tri'Marin" stem from ?
- Can it jump by itself ?

I can see why Mallacores take on Hull-Structure might feel a bit too techy, but in my mind, it fits very well with the lore. I imagine these designs are part of a new generation of ships, following the chaotic era of the Shadow War and the subsequent Drakh Invasion. These ships were designed at a time where the Centauri were in disarray and suddenly saw themselves surrounded by two major powers, the Earth Alliance and the ISA. Because of that, this new generation of vessels was less streamlined, but more utilitarian, resulting in the more "techy" appearance.
I have no doubt that in time, the Centauri would start integrating these really jarring design elements like great gray hull plating back into the more "artistic" style they previously had - but only when the Republic once again has reached a sort of "golden age" status.
Now for your questions:
- "Escort" here means these vessels are intended to protect civilian assets such as trade convoys, VIP transports etc, but also serve as supporting vessels in battle groups, covering the flanks of larger formations, secure carriers behind the frontline etc.
- Yes, this would be a vessel seeing service in the Earth/Centauri War teased by the Technomages. I imagine after the Events of Babylon 5 and the Drakh Invasion, the Centauri would still identify the Earth Alliance as their primary adversary on the Galactic Stage (apart from the ISA, perhaps, though the political climate there is a bit uncertain). So most of the Centauri Vessels I create right now are in some way geared toward effectively countering Earth Alliance tech.
- I am not sure there is a proper name convention for Centauri Ship Classes. I've read somewhere that the "Vorchan" is the Centauri-equivalent of an eagle, so I'd imagine the Tri'Marin is a sort of creature as well, probably one not native to Centauri Prime.
- Yes. Considering their technological level, I would expect pretty much all Centauri vessels safe for fighters to be jump-capable. That said, I do think *every* ship of this class would be built with a Jump Engine installed. The majority of them is probably going to use Jumpgates only to safe in cost.

That's likely possible, though I won't do it until I have a bit more original designs to take components from. One can probably come up with a sort of modular system of "Heads", "Main Hulls" and "Sickles" to put together in various combinations to create more designs like it's commonly done for Earth Force vessels.
But, as you follow my art for some time now, you can probably tell that I work a little bit differently. I do use weapons and some detailing from components, but major hull elements are usually drawn from scratch.

Note: So this is my first original Centauri design. Although the design elements are still largely taken from Mallacore's Future Centauri, the ship itself is a completely new creation.
