What I always did with my scanner:
open your scanned image into a photoshop, gimp, paint/whatever and crop it.

I would in paint...but the image is...well larger than it should be.

Still works to crop the sides that aren't needed.

I know. Luckily though I found the option to priew the scan and manipulate how I want this time around, so I was able to crop it this time.

Yeah. IT was on the computer the whole time, not the printer display screen.
