Description One of the lead characters of my graphic novel project, "Durandal Saga."

One of the most mysterious species of the known world is that of the Wolfen-Kind. This humanoid race carries characteristics of both wolf-demon and elf, with the brute strength and fur of the former and the tallness and beauty of the latter. One of the most notable inherent ability of this species is to transform at will into what is known as a "Berserker" form. This form features more fur, altered facial features as well as near unrivaled strength. At present the species' population is very small and they reside in small hamlets throughout the continent of Durandal, although legends say that their origin lies within the far off lands of legend.

A background of Ein -

As the story begins it is unclear of where Ein was born and raised. At a young age he joined the Vellusian Assassins Guild and few years later he bacame rivals with Rhalymnir. After failed mission in which let Ein was mortally wounded, Rhalymnir carried him to a nearby Wolfen hamlet and he was slowly treated. However due to the medical practices of the time Ein's left side was shaved and a tattoo/sutra was imbedded into his shoulder. This sutra would keep the fur from disrupting the wound. Consequently the tattoo kept Ein from tranforming into a berserker, which among the Wolfen-kind made him a burden of society and an outcast. With his past behind him continues working as an assassin to proove his worth, and when the time comes he joins the newly befriended Rhalymnir on a journey that could change the worl as we know it...

A background on his weapon -

After an incident that left him fatally wounded, Ein choose to evolve his fighting prowess into a more defensive style. The Trictoch is only edged on the head, leaving the shaft and underarm of the blade thick. The sharpness of the blade itself is only of axe quality and gives a more of a bludgeoning impact rather than of slicing. The advantage this weapon gives for Ein is that it gives him all the defensive properties he needs. The shape is basically an evolution of the Sai, allowing the user to disarm the enemy in every sense of the term. Try to stab of a swing a weapon at him and with a flick of the handle he can wrench it out of your grasp of break it in two with ease. Throw a punch or any sort of limb at him and the bone will be broken in two or more places. Sometimes the arm will be ripped right from the socket. Defensive, but oh so deliciously violent

A background on the character design -

Ein is actually one of my oldest character designs, dating back to 1999. In this incarnation I added some form of clothing and armour. Prior versions can be found in these links:

Awesome picture! I love the forest and the style of the armor and weapon. Reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics elements.

Ohhh wow I almost thought this was fanart for something official for a minute, it's that good! I really love the full forest background and the details on his clothing. That weapon is rather badass as well! I love the entire concept of a wolfen elvish race. Sounds like there are so many possibilities available in your world^^ I can almost see it as an rpg as well as a graphic novel with the way you descrive weapons and races.

I'd actually disagree with the previous commentor, it might be one of your purposes to have him blend since we can't have a forest dweller standing out TOO much. I would recommend instead sharpening the lines of the figure and strengthening the contrast of the shadows in him (especially in his skin) since the forest around him seems to be a pretty dark area. His furry parts also seem to have more detail and attention to contrast than the rest of him, which I think is slightly imbalanced. treat the rest of his form as you have with the fur and he'll pop right out whilst still blending in with his natural setting, colorwise.

Keep on with your graphic novel! It sounds pretty awesome so far

Mm, I like, as always. I agree with Ody, though. Your coloring technique is always very beautiful, but the colors you choose to use always seem to blend together in a way that makes everything look static. Nothing really jumps out at you. Some highlights might help that a bit, but choosing colors is very important. When looking at this piece, my eyes jump right to that tiny glowing flower in the background rather than the character.

Wow, that is one badass bishie. The blade he's carrying adds to his coolness factor even more.

Psychoblue approves!

I lvoe it but it could still use some work
The background is awesome, but I find that the coloring method for the background and character are too similar. And it ends up looking like he has plastic skin and cardboard hair. Some hints of reds and oranges could do the skin tones some good. And the hair could use a few subtle saturated highlights.
