awesome! Only complaint is that the lighting on the bird doesn't fit with the rest of the picture.

first things first, the birds coloring looks off, it doesn't really match the rest of the image and thats why it feels out of place. Maybe play around with curves. othere than that, i'm really digging this. i love the way the water and tree man crashes into the rocks.

Great manip. I was reading some of the comments and one person said the "Owl" felt out of place. I know it's not an owl, but it think it's the lighting on it and the lack of a definable perch for it. It seems as it's floating. Otherwise awesome piece. Excuse me if it seems rude of me to mention it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mashina In reply to eyeconartist [2008-05-16 17:20:31 +0000 UTC]

No no, it's not a problem, man. Really. I appreciate constructive criticism, especially those pointing out errors
That bird had a neon light just above it, so I had a lot of trouble finding the correct exposition, I know it should be more bright in the lower part of the body but this is the best result I could come up with. The overall result is acceptable, at least for me
I had to darken the perch because of the bird's shadow, otherwise it would have been unnatural in appearance. But even here, it's a subjective thing. Maybe I had to put some bright cloud behind it in order to make it contrast more, what do you think?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

eyeconartist In reply to mashina [2008-05-16 21:38:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think having something behind it that is lighter would separate it from the background and have the reality of it's perch more obvious. Also, you might want to think about darkening the left side of it's head some to sho the light direction hitting the "Treeman" that it's resting on so it is placed in the environment. Then slightly lighten the lower part of the bird. I think it would bring the piece together more, personally speaking.

Hope that helped. Not like you need much anyway.

I apreciate your honesty and humility as well.

Unfortunately it's too late to modify this work, it was done for an album cover and it's already going to be printed
Thanks for your precious comment, anyway
