Man, feels like forever since I last did anything Hetalia-related. But, with Hetalia about to make its glorious comeback, I knew I had to do something! Not to brag, but in the last few years, I can confidently say I've gotten better in drawing, especially now that I've discovered how to do shading! I still need to work on scaling though.

All that aside, I decided to draw some of my favorite Hetalia nations, the five Nordics! But wait, there's a sixth one in the middle, and she's a girl! Well, this is an old OC of mine, the Faroe Islands (or Faroe for short). Denmark, Norway, and Iceland are her brothers.

For those who don't know, the Faroe Islands is an archipelago located between Iceland and Great Britain. The land is technically owned by Denmark, but they're autonomous. The area itself is small, with a population of little more than 50,000, but they have a rich cultural and political heritage and even their own language (Faroese) and sports teams.

Faroe used to have long hair but cut it short in the early 1800s, when ownership of Iceland and the islands was transferred from Norway to Denmark. And since she's the smallest of the Nordic nations, she's only 5'6 (the main Nordics measure between 5'7 and 5'11). That said, she's surprisingly tough (as Scandinavian women are said to be), and even the guys forget how much. She claims to have put Finland in a headlock (all in good fun, of course).

I decided to call her Kristina as her human name. Her birthday is April 1, because the Faroe Islands gained autonomy on April 1, 1948. She's also supposed to look around the same age as Iceland (16-17), because both of them were settled by Norwegians around the same time (the mid-ninth century). That said, she is annoyed by the fact that Iceland is fully independent while she's still under Denmark's thumb (as she sees it).

Although she's been autonomous for over 70 years, Norway and Denmark tend to be a little overprotective of her. For hundreds of years she lived a pretty sheltered life, having never participated in any major conflicts or wars. Ever since she got her first taste of freedom, she's been into extreme sports (particularly rock-climbing) and has become an adrenaline junkie, pretty much freaking out her brothers on a regular basis. But she is fond of them and likes to call Denmark "Denny" to annoy him.

Speaking of which, she's also friends with England. During World War II, when Denmark and Norway were taken over by the Nazis, Great Britain decided to occupy the islands to keep the Nazis from progressing in a move called Operation Valentine. And, yeah, you know where I'm going with this. Really though, many British officers married Faroese women. I'm surprised Himaruya-san didn't pick up on this story, because it needs to be told!

Note: I originally chose another song, but then I re-listened to "Kindan no Telepathy," and I heard this male chorus in the background that immediately made me think of the guys. Plus, it's one of the best debut songs from any artist I've ever heard!
