From the artwork of this story/webcomic/SOMETHING, it looks like it's from some sort of Grecian Mythology. My guess is that the lore's origins date back to an alternate Universe where there is magic and it dated back to the Roman Empire or some sort of Empire.
Then something happened, where Anti and Dark, now young adults, were goofing around with their buds, and one of their friends dare them to go to the giant magical spire in the empire, and, being dorky people, they agree.
Something happened. Like they accidentally messed up something or what, but it killed everyone in the kingdom, leaving Dark and Anti as the only survivors. Consumed by their grief and shock, they blame each other for the genocide, and a fight ensues. Anti loses his wings(which I'm guessing is symbolic or smthn), both are consumed by hatred, and they become darker shadows of their former selves, which explains why in their purest form, Dark is a black and pink blob, and Anti is percieved(by me) as a mist. They possess their human reincarnations and then life happens.
There. That's my theory. On another note...
