I call her Alita for a couple reasons.
1. Alita is the Spanish word for "little wing", which fits the character perfectly.
2. Alita sounds prettier than Gally, which is reminiscent of the Spanish word "gallina", which means "hen".
That said, I like this artwork a lot. However, Alita's bangs are never cut like that - it makes her look like somebody else.
Anyway, Alita is not simply one of my favorite manga characters, or even one of my favorite sci-fi characters. She is one of my favorite characters ever created.
The way you have the wires coming out of her back reminds me of that popular artwork from Ghost in the Shell, where Motoko is in essentially the same position.
