Description I find it funny that you can't really find the original Captain Marvel anywhere unless you have the old comics.  I don't even know if they even reprint the originals.  But hey time for a history lesson for everyone.  This is the true Captain Marvel not whatever modern Marvel has created or should I say swipe.  But hey who am I to judge.  Well enjoy XD

No she's not. The Marvel Captain Marvel characters are all johnny-come-lately. The REAL Captain Marvel is the Fawcett comics character created by  Artist C. C. Beck and writer Bill Parker created the character in 1939.

Maria Rambeau is a very worthy character. But she was neither the original, nor first Captain Marvel. even at Marvel. A certain Kree has claim to that distinction, although it was spelled Mar-vell at the time to avoid trademark/copyright issues. But that being said, she did do credit to the name and it was far better for her than the later nom du guerre Marvel writers attempted to give her.

I hate to burst your bubble but the Captain Marvel of the Fawcett comics was in fact Shazam before he become Shazam.  In fact he was called Captain Thunder before being  renamed to Captain Marvel  but Fawcett was later sued for the character in 1957s i believe by DC.  So in part Shazam/ Captain thunder was the first called Captain Marvel, but in my opinion only is that the true Captain Marvel was Monica Rambeau.  Mainly because she was the second version of this character, but she was a true character instead of one who was being changed several times.  And also Captain Mar-vell and Captain Marvel are technically two different characters who literally have the same back story.  And most people can't tell the difference of either which is why I made this piece.

WRONG - he was NEVER known as SHAZAM by Fawcett comics. You need to go do your homework.

Fawcett comics was successfully sued by DC because of his resemblance to Superman. DC would later licence and eventually purchase the Marvel Family (and Fawcettt's) other characters. But he's been known by the name Captain Marvel literally for decades before Marcia gained the name, or was ever published. The loss of the trademark "Captain Marvel" due to the break in publication is a standard in legal studies on trademark.

She's a good character. But attempting to rewrite her to support the agenda you espouse is to ignore documented fact. But since you seem to need help  www.dalerobertscomics.com/imag… do take a good look at the bottom teaser line ... featuring Capt. Marvel  publication date as March 1941    Marcia was first published in 1982 over 40 years later.

Oh dear god.  You really need to get your facts right and why do you have a issue getting Monica name right??  Captain Thunder/Captain Marvel was running at the time in Whiz comics as Superman was in Action comics.  And here's a fact for you, Captain Thunder name was changed to Captain Marvel, just to steal comics because no one at the time didn't like the name Captain Thunder.  In fact they were both a big hit back in the day.  Until someone in DC saw the resemblance to a character they were creating at the time.  Which caused a major lawsuit, and in the end Captain Marvel was turned over to DC.  And in the 1980s Marvel brought out another version of Captain Marvel who was Monica. And that caused another backlash which resulted in the change to Captain Mar Vell.  We can even go further if you like that in the 90's there was another suit because one of the creators in Marvel brought back Captain Marvel as a male character with no resemblance to DC Captain Marvel.  Which ended with DC Captain Marvel turning into Shazam.  And here's a fun fact for you out of all the characters in Marvel and DC, Captain Marvel has been the only one who's gone through so many changes from Captain thunder, captain jr, captain family to complete makeover.  So have a nice day I guess

I have nothing against Monica being Captain Marvel. I merely point out that you are incorrect in her being the first.

That's good and I never said she was the first just original because Captain thunder/marvel/jr/family/ shazam and god knows what else they are going to do to this poor character is messed up.  Because on the original base Monica is original just the name sake but Captain Marvel he's had a rough time

You really should read  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_… as it has an excellent summary of the legal history of Billy (Captain Marvel) Batson and his publication trail.  This was the cover from his first appearance in print. and as you can see he was called Captain Marvel from the start.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_…

As for Moncia, I am less worried about Disney doing her justice in the movies than I am about her comic character's fate. She's suffered at the hands of bad writers over the years. She is otherwise well liked by Marvel fans and given a chance would do well. After all she was the leader of the Avengers for a time.

Which further supports my point. While other countries may have altered the name in republishings to meet their laws, the character is still properly named Captain Marvel. You are also referring to events AFTER his creation but are still before 1982. And the Miracle Man is not Billy Batson. Wikipedia: Marvelman was created in 1954 by writer-artist Mick Anglo for publisher L. Miller & Son originally as a United Kingdom home-grown substitute for the American Captain Marvel.

Yeah that is what a lot of people say, most don't realized who the original looked like and that was what this piece was about.  The original.

Thanks and that is true.  This piece was done because it annoyed me that no one knows the original really.  So I mainly put it up for all to enjoy.

Thanks.  And there really isn't any salt mainly because I just showing everyone the original.  And the opinion of Marvel is mine.  There's no real creative the main comic industry anymore which is sad.

Thanks and it is quite sad when you think about it.  Especially when people can't tell Captain Mar-Vell  from Captain Marvel.

The first one was really Mar-Vell. But Monica was the Captain Marvel I first met (on the Secret Wars series), so I get what you mean.

Yeah I kind of stopped reading Marvel mainly because of what they are doing to it all.  Which is sad
