That being one of the questions that I have.

Oh, well we don't know what happed to barriss after the end of the 5s season of clone wars. And I figured(like many other who also wrote fanfic s about it) that she might have not be killed but hold by the emperor and trained in the ways of the dark side (against her will).
And then after some time ahsoka finds out and comes to rescue her and here we are.
