I read that Kai was supposed to appear in the story mode of MKX, but got replaced by Bo' Rai Cho. I am kinda happy that they changed that because in the scene that Kai was meant to be in, Bo' Rai Cho got tortured by Shinnok and the revenants, and his fate is left ambiguous as of now. So basically, Kai just got lucky if ya know what I'm sayin'.

I expect Kai to be in MK11. I wonder how they would retcon his backstory, though. Because in the original timeline, not much was known about him. I would picture his storyline like this:
"Kai was born from a war torn area in a nation of East Africa. He was saved by Shaolin monks as a child when his parents were killed by rebels. He grew up in the White Lotus society to help escape the perils he endured as a child in his homeland. He now resides in Nepal where he took his training even further by following the ways of the Gurkha warrior class."

Thanks, I also like his original costume best. Kai is an underused character in the mk universe and if he returns in mkx that might be very cool!
