The Pier - The Serious Angler********************************
The Urangan Pier at Hervey Bay - Built in 1917 to export sugar, coal and timber.
Original length 1124 metres
Present length 868 metres
Current use for fishermen, walkers, photographers and tourists.
I took the unusual step for me of getting up before dawn - hoping for a beautiful sunrise. It didn't happen. Instead I found a place where I could have a go at some 'street photography'.
Hope you like them. I'm about 90% happy. Critical comments would be most welcome.
All photos initially cropped and levels/curves improved in photoshop then imported into lighroom and lots of playing and then exported back to finish in photoshop. I changed the sepia tonings and gave all photos a quick mask/gradient/gaussion blur look. It was fun but my eyes are now about to pop out of my head

Nope - some people were catching some real little fish and one guy caught a small stingray. He was a bit of a fruit loop - he started telling me how he built his own rods and blah blah blah. I asked if he was going to keep the ray - he said no - but he had to cut it open to get his hook out of it, then he just thew it back over the jetty. I don't think it was going to live

You do find some strange people when you are out early - anyone with a camera is OK though

I just like eating them - I've always found fishing boring

It is pretty boring. I think that is what I like about it. I can just sit there and relax doing nothing.
