In all, I give this photograph a 4. It is captivating, and I think the artist choosing to display this photograph in black and white was a good decision.
The Vision for this piece was scored 4.5 stars because I admire the angle it was taken at, and it shows well the way the barbed wire fades into the background. The detail in the tree trunk/post is exquisite and clear. The blurry piece of foliage in the foreground distracts the photograph though. There is already enough blur in the background and I think it would be best if the trunk/post was the main focus of the photograph.
It's originality scored a 3 because barbed wire is a common prompt and metaphor in many photographs. However, the idea of "Loneliness" goes well with the image.
I gave Technique a 5 because the photograph was executed very nicely.
Impact received 3.5 stars because I feel like I've seen this idea before. As I've said before, barbed wire and the idea of loneliness seems a bit overused. But, I do admire the image in itself because of the detail and mental connection.
