why the F stop and shutter speed? Would think you would have went to F11 or so as you had plenty of light - Where you wanting to blur the forground?

You cannot change it directly but you can pic the best mode
I love the following link [link]
small part below
"modes overlay framing guides in the shape of people, mountains or an alignment grid on the LCD monitor, making it easy to frame your subjects to best align with the camera's exposure and focusing systems. Consumers thus have a nearly foolproof way to capture great pictures in just about any situation--so long as they take the time to learn about these modes."
Basically the modes prioritize either shutter speed or f stop understanding them will result it far better pictures.

I like this photo, it's got great color and a beautiful subject. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to heed the rule of thirds. The imagined line between the mountains and the sky is just a little below the halfway point, which can cause a little confusion as to what is the main focus. I would suggest a little cropping of the sky, as to bring the imagined horizon line up, with the image being about a third sky at the top, and two thirds mountain along the bottom.
This really is a beautiful photograph, I just think that with some cropping it could be irresistable.
