Description My recent journal entry to try to help Defenders Of Wildlife raise money to put an end to wolf slaughter (cubs being killed in their dens, etc.) inspired me to upload a couple older pics I realized I never posted on here.

This one is from 2007 I think, it's a few years old. I have more recent ones in my gallery. This particular wolf at the reserve was a bit too wild to interact with people how the other wolves can (it had to be kept behind chainlink). However, she kept pressing up against the chainlink as hard as she could to be pet XD. It was adorable and very touching.

You can donate $5.00 or more to Defenders Of Wildlife by following this link.

I know! Wolves are absolutely awesome, what a blessing to be able to get close enough to pet them. I have more pics in my gallery under my regular photos of wolves NOT behind a fence . This was just one of the more wild ones they keep separate from visitors for safety.

Aww, yay that you have a Husky . I adopted a Malamute but had to give him up to another home...I won't be able to own one for a little while, since they're such high maintenance dogs. LOVE them though (Malamutes and Huskies), I don't want to own any other breed after having the Malamute briefly.

Thank you...I'm really not doing much though. I'm trying to spread the word, but currently my reach only extends so far . I wish I could do more and hope I'll be in the position to one day. Right now I'm barely getting by, can't even afford a regular Dr. visit for myself XD. Wolves hold a special place in my heart for some reason. I know $10.00 isn't much but I wanted to do SOMETHING. If I was rich I'd pour thousands into helping them, life means more to me than money...and wolves are just so precious. What a sin against God to kill them, it's sick.

I'm kind of in the same situation with not being able to give much to charity. It starts at home, so don't feel bad about not giving enough money. You give them love and that's something money can't buy.

It's been a while since I've visited the wolf reserve. I plan on going back as soon as I can. Getting my car registered finally (costs like $80.00) on Tuesday...that's a start.

All this idle time is just building up steam for me to do a hell of allot when I'm able. At least that's how I'm trying to think. The past two years have been so rough.

Thanks for the good wishes ^_^. I hope so too, something's gotta give! I WANT to finish the Wipeout helmet and costume sooo bad! I need money for it though, and have other financial needs currently. As soon as I can get some steady work I'll get the thing done...and if I get enough art sales I'll chip away at it. All I really need is some money for leather paints and a clear visor, like around $30.00 total maybe to finish the helmet...so, not too bad!

Thanks for the kind compliment and good wishes, lol! I've been praying for a turn around. Just registered for college again (that's how long it's been)..and looking into financial aid tomorrow for it, i hope to AT LEAST take 1 art class this coming semester...get me out of the house. And it's cool, I'm not creeped out. Your comment actually made me smile and laugh when I read it XD. I was just doing some cleaning around and thinking how annoyed I am currently with GUYS, and your comment lightened me up a bit. I haven't had much luck with the menfolk lately, and I'm sorta going into lone wolf mode again XD. But that's probably what's best anyway since I need to focus on getting back on my own two feet *shrugs*. Thanks for the comment though, I don't like staying pissed at men and it doesn't happen very often (most of my friends are guys). So nice timing you, lol.

I've never been to the UK and really want to take a trip someday...I have a few online buddies out there, and have done some business with people overseas. They've all been really nice, and a couple of them I've kept in touch with .

It's strange how luck seems to change sometimes.
You could be having bad luck after bad luck and then something happens and it seems like everything gets better. Hope it's not long before your luck changes. It cant rain all the time
Oh and if you ever come to the UK, can we hook up and hang out somewhere?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meadowknight In reply to Dontburnit [2010-01-06 10:16:30 +0000 UTC]

No it can't rain all the time...I just need my next "big break", if I can JUST find some steady work that comes with a paycheck I can start to turn things around for myself. What was tough is, a couple years ago I had all I wanted for the first time, then lost it all. My first and so far only official boyfriend broke the hell out of my heart, and shortly after, I lost my job at the FX place. My heart was already as broken as it had ever been by my boyfriend (worst pain I have experienced, I'm much more careful now)...but then my heart got broken in a different way by losing what at the time felt like my dream job. I couldn't go back to retail after THAT, not after working on feature films. So, I tried and tried to get back into another art job, but for two years straight connections have fallen through...and I've reached the point where I have to swallow my pride and get a regular job if I can find one (if I can't get a art related one, I'm checking into all I know first). But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right? XD My heart and determination are stronger than ever now...but it took allot to get there emotionally. People...need to be more careful with other's hearts. Being shot in the knees then forced to dance would have been less painful, lol.

Haha, we'll see XD. It will probably be a while since I'm penny-less girl, but when I do go out there, for security reasons I'm not going alone (I believe it's wise to travel with company when exploring new places). I'm open to meeting online friends in person, but I would have a buddy with me ^_^. As long as you're okay with that I don't see why not.

Dontburnit In reply to Meadowknight [2010-01-06 17:52:50 +0000 UTC]

Not just trying to see things we have in common, but until about 1 year ago I was in the same exact shape as you right now. Me and my girlfriend at the time broke up violently and my heart will never be the same again. After she took my heart and crushed it with a pair of pliers and burned it with a blow torch (not sure if you get the pulp fiction reference there) I thought I would never heal up. Still don't think that you can repair a broken heart, but you can try to forget about it right?
Well, what doesn't kill you...
So yeah, after that I simply gave up work. Didn't see the point in having money or a place to live etc. Really messed me up.
OK enough reflection on bad times. Now times have changed and my luck seems to have changed and I'm on a steady salary again.
Not saying that the same things are definitely going to happen to you or anything. Just that even when things seem like they're never going to get better, I promise they will. Unless you get hooked on meth or crack or something lol, which I wouldn't know much about except that those kind of drugs are bad mmm kay?
Oh and yeah I totally understand you wanting to have a buddy with you in case you meet someone you'd rather not.
I've met someone that I've only spoken to online, before meeting them in person and it was actually quite nice, but nothing developed from it. We saw a concert a couple of years back and I lost my phone a couple of days after that and her number along with it. Anyway, it's not like you're anywhere close to my country in the first place
Security? YOU need security? From all those weapons you carry I would think you'd hold up fine in London

Meadowknight In reply to Dontburnit [2010-01-08 10:32:39 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry you got hurt so bad. Nice Pulp Fiction reference..and that's how it feels. I lovingly refer to my heartbreak as a humming bird flying at full speed into a wood chipper, lol. That's how mine felt. I...tend not to forget about these things. Instead I dwell, and dwell, and dwell until I can't dwell anymore an can simply look back on it as an experience to learn from. Doing that makes getting over stuff take a long time, but I feel more like I've properly mourned if that makes sense.

I believe things will get better, thanks ^_^. And no drugs for me...they ARE bad mmmkay? So...so are zombies ummmkaaay? [link] But yeah, never had an interest in drugs, lol.

I've met a few online friends in person, and it's been nice...no bad experiences, but still single, lol. Clicked well with them though and still in touch . Yes I can...defend myself (I have some history in martial arts as well, and getting back into it...got a black belt in Shotokan back in 2005). BUT, can never be too careful and I'm out of practice...miss it like crazy. It's just smarter to travel in numbers, I feel it prevents allot of scary/risky situations.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dontburnit In reply to Meadowknight [2010-01-08 18:28:17 +0000 UTC]

Haha nice analogy.
I prefere to forget than to dwell on those things. Although I can't help but talk about it. Maybe trying to put closure on it here is as therapeutic deleting photos off my hard drive.
I've been thinking about doing kung fu for a while now. I was doing pretty good at Taekwondo, but when I moved house I sort of gave that up. So I've been looking for a place to train locally and a kung-fu class would be pretty cool.

Do wolves "thump" with their back paws the same way dogs do whenever they are getting their back scratched?

Meadowknight In reply to Mike-the-dabbler [2010-01-01 00:29:33 +0000 UTC]

Not that I know of XD! This one just kept pushing against the fence. The woman who runs the reserve said this particular wolf was just a little too rough with visitors, like she would try to get at their clothes, lol (I assume she tugged on shirts and such). She's clearly a friendly wolf though, I bet she missed being petted by the visitors before she had to be separated...and that's why she kept pressing up on the fence that way. Big wolf too, as you can see she's taller than me when we're both sitting XD...and I'm 5 ft 7 and a half, so I'm not tiny.

Lol, nawww. I was petting her for a while, she didn't try to nip me through the chainlink or anything . And I had just come out of the area at the reserve where you could be IN with certain wolves. She pressed against the chainlink, it was obvious what she wanted XD.

Lol, believe me I know...my fingers are my livelihood as an artist . Wolves don't seem to go for the fingers, but I still use common sense.
