Some time ago, one of my friends made a most adorable drawing of Caleb as Dragon Warrior! She'd designed him a new outfit and given him a cute, bright-green dragon pet to boot! Now, of course, this makes for an interesting story prompt: what would the story be like if Caleb and Al reversed roles? I had to draw them, using my friend's design for Caleb's warrior outfit.

At this prompt I realized just how much of their characterization, and their overall paths in life rely on their roles as mage and non-mage respectively. Caleb would never leave for adventures if he weren't a mage, and Al's entire career in the Army hinges on the fact that he's not a mage. ...Almost all of his life choices rely on him not being a mage, actually.

That being said, Caleb would make for a shitty warrior (but wonderful dragon-tamer? ) and Alwen would make for a notorious, filthy rich mage - Caleb's dragon would scare off his opponents, and Alwen would very much get involved with Holorian politics.
