Description File #014- Mothman

Height: 6-7 feet

Weight: N/A

Description: Large flying humanoid

Territory: Point Pleasant, West Virginia

Infomation:

Among the most famous cryptids is the terrifying entity known only as Mothman. No one knows for sure what mothman was, though some beleive it was an alien or a mutant, others beleive it was a sandhill crane, and even more sinister explanations exist...
A famous encounter:"On November 15, 1966, two young married couples from Point Pleasant, West Virginia, named David and Linda Scarberry, and Steve and Mary Mallette, were traveling late at night in the Scarberrys' car. They were passing the West Virginia Ordnance Works, an abandoned World War II TNT factory, about seven miles north from Point Pleasant, in the 2,500 acre (10 km²) McClintic Wildlife Station, when they noticed two red lights in the shadows by an old generator plant near the factory gate. They stopped the car, and were reportedly startled to discover that the lights were the glowing red eyes of a large animal, 'shaped like a man, but bigger, maybe six and a half or seven feet tall, with big wings folded against its back,' according to Roger Scarberry. Terrified, they drove toward Route 62, where the creature supposedly chased them at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour."
The only direct evidence to support the alien theory is a single report of mothman in which it flew up to a glowing UFO and hung there for a short time, after which both the cryptid and the UFO sped off in opposite directions. Indirect evidence includes reports of "Men in Black" and ufos at the time, and bizarre circumstance involving a woman who claimed to have seen the creature's face(she described it only as "horrible, like something out of a horror movie". She was the only witness who clearly saw the face). She later developed a unique eye ailment, often caused by radiation, which is often reported by people who observe a UFO closely.
Some people beleive it was an old government experiment. One reporter investigating the events claims to have had strange experiences, in which his phone would cut out, or earlier pconversations he had would be mysteriously be replayed. The most disturbing of these incidents supposedly occurred when his phone cut out, and a deep-voice told him exactly where in his house his wife, dog, and children were, and warned him to stop his investigation.
Curiously, mothman has not been reported since the Silver Bridge's collapse on December 15, 1968. The creature has been blamed for this, some going as far to say it was a spirit conjured by angry natives, infuriated by the destruction of the land.

I dont think I've ever read a discription if it's face. I don't think anyone has seen it that closely

Like I said, one woman claims to have seen it, and said it was too horrible to describe. She also supposedly had eye damage caused by radiation

You don't understand; there was actually a doctor who verified the condition of her eyes, and that it is caused by radiation.

I have this creepy feeling that, having told the reporter story, serious-looking men in nondescript black suits will arrive at my front door in nondescript black sedans, and no one will ever hear from me again.
