HOW COME I DONT KNOW THAT SOME JAPAN'S GENIUSES ARE COLLABORATED TO MAKE NAUSICAA OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND PREQUEL??!!I discovered this few hours ago and I need to draw something out of it ~~ ahgash I'm so excited because I always wanted to know how the Seven Days Of Fire looked like and now I knOW :'D
the best part is, it was made in oldskool style of monsters movies
1,5 hours speed painting~ this is the scene where the giant god warrior appear, I made him in silhouette because I'm pathetic and cant draw monster D':

the giant warrior is from my favourite studio ghibli film nausicaa of the valley of the wind

Awesome, loving the colorscheme. The monster looks great, and if you feel unsure about drawing a monster full on, I think this solution works perfectly, since the sun is as low as it is, it makes sense that the monster is completely darkened. Plus in a way it's more effective that you can only see the silhouette - the fear of the unknowing you know

you know as soon as i saw this work i though of neon genesis evangelion: www.otakuthon.com/2009res/img/…
then i watched the movie and i was reminded of mr hideaki anno, who directed the NGE series and also animated that monster in the original nausicaa- i looked it up an he worked on this one too, he has quite a recognisable style 
i encourage you even more to watch NGE 
and omg, 1.5 hours?! seriously!! great tribute to the movie!!

oh i never heard the word 'kaiju' before, but now i know it i can see why the Japanese need a word for that, it's in a lot of anime
