Description Let your arms enfold us
Through the dark of night
Will your angels hold us
Until we see the light. - Prayer, Hayley Westenra

My DnD character for :disneypunk10:'s campaign. Lae'estril. Drow sorceress. She escaped the Underdark to be rid of their barbaric lifestyle and cruelty. She chose Eilistraee as her new deity to guide her though she knew little about the moon goddess. When she and her companion came to the surface, they were taken in by the church of Eilistraee and Lae'estril became a priestess. The tattoo on her back was once one of a spider as inflicted by her former matron in a fit of rage. It was changed into a silver moon, the sign of the Dark Lady.

Inspired by the song Prayer by Haylet Westenra, which is Lae'estril's priestess theme song.

Enjoy!

I am a DnD player and Eilistraee-fan too. And this picture says very good, how freedom feels for a drow who comes from the underdark.
Keep it up!

I have to say I really like that tattoo and would like to get that on my back, or arm.

I've thought about getting it tattooed myself... but I don't know where since I don't think I would be able to stand sitting in the chair long enough for an artist to do it.... lol!

DarkNinjaRaven In reply to MegziePegzie [2011-11-10 19:24:50 +0000 UTC]

Lol yeah that be my problem too. It just kinda fits into an existing design I had for a moon band tattoo that would go around my arm. Don't think I will get it though. But still amazing design.

Alright. Now I've got to ask. Every time you post something it has this...blurry like effect. Not blurred out or anything but just a touch of softness (I sense a Downy commercial coming on). How do you do it? Do you use PS? Or do you use another program? If you do use photoshop, do you select all and use the blurs under the filters, or do you do it when you save for web and devices, and add the blur in there?

Just curious.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MegziePegzie In reply to JHTriune [2009-04-26 20:25:45 +0000 UTC]

I really should make a tutorial on how to do this since I get asked so much... lol.

Okay so... yes I use photoshop. When I'm all done with the picture, I flatten the image so it's just one layer. I then duplicate the layer so there's two identical layers. Put a gaussian blur on the top layer and lower the opacity and ta-dah! Soft effect!

JHTriune In reply to MegziePegzie [2009-04-28 08:12:51 +0000 UTC]

Ah...I've never used the duplicate layer ever, so that's probably why I didn't recognise the technique. Thanks, I might try it myself sometime!
