Description

Hey! It’s been a while! Hope you’re doing well! Here’s a painting I did in Adelaide at CDW Studios where I taught a workshop. I didn't get to finish the painting because I was giving students feedback, so I went back and painted it up. Wanted to go for a Japanese animation feel, with the red-Miyazaki-roofs and the purple-Shinkai-shadows.

Reason why I’ve been missing-in-action online is because I had a big life change: last month I sold all my stuff, and packed everything that was essential into a suitcase, and set off to travel the world while working and freelancing from my laptop. The last month was like a whirlwind with so much happening. Right now I’m currently in Sydney and have time to sit down and do work now that I’m used to being on the road. But yeah! I’m back Time for more paints!

Awesome work!! It's so awesome that you'll be travelling around the place! Can't wait to see where you go! (No, but really, that sounds so cool, like something out of those super inspiring novels about those characters who go travelling and have all kinds of adventures haha!)

thanks Ruby! it took a while to get used to because it's tempting to go outside and socialise and explore everything lol but then have to have the discipline to sit down and paint. Getting there though, I find it's better when I'm alone, then I feel more creative and get in the zone easier Will share things from travels soon!

Ooh I bet it would be! You've been putting out some really awesome stuff though! Aah, but it's always easier to work when there's no one around, I find haha, less distractions XD
Can't wait! Hope you have a great time!

This is gorgeous! I love all the loose details that come together to give the image a real atmosphere. The colors you used in the sky are so soothing, and I love how ramshackle the building looks. It feels so lived in!

Thankyou! It was a really big step, I'm planning on sharing how things go as I get further on the road, since at the moment I'm just travelling around Australia first before exploring internationally. Already definitely a challenge!

Horray!! Super exciting One question I had- I'm not sure if you had used a big monitor for art at home before- but if so, how is it adjusting to a laptop for digital art?

Can't wait to hear more about the trip, and see more art, of course!!

Oh yes! It was so uncomfortable at first, I had an iMac 21inch screen and another second screen before, so getting used to a laptop was very challenging at first, I'm a bit used to it now, just have to zoom up a lot on painting, especially when I detail.
Nowadays the luxury is getting a place with a desk, the first place I was at didn't have one so I had to use boxes to make a surface and sat on the floor while painting. So interesting hahah!

Will share more as it goes

I love this! This has such a familiar and reminiscent taste for me, and I don't know why. Great work!

thankyou! I wanted to go for an animation-ish feel so it was a bit challenging at first, but learnt a lot!
